Our FY 2010 Budget

Our mission is to provide quality health care to the people of Tarrant County. We realize that we are meeting our mission with your tax dollars, and we feel it is important for you to know how we are spending your money. You may scroll down to see our fiscal year 2010 budget. Additionally, we understand that you might have questions about our budget and its process. We’ve provided a list of frequently asked questions below. We appreciate your interest. 

When does the budget cycle begin?
Fiscal year 2010 will begin October 1, 2009 and ends September 30, 2010.

Are you raising my taxes this year? 
No, Tarrant County residents will not pay more money into the Tarrant County Hospital District this year.

How are you spending my tax dollars this year?
The key areas we are focusing on include:

Improve quality of care.
• Improve patient access and throughput.
• Improve patient, physician and employee satisfaction.
• Provide the highest level of trauma care for our community.
• Determine and define the scope of services or benefits for JPS Connection.
• Enhance graduate medical education program.
• Update and refine the Network’s strategic plan.

Are you laying people off? 
No, JPS will not have layoffs this year.

Are you cutting back on any patient care services?
No. JPS is actually expanding patient care (as listed above)

Are you still hiring?
Yes, JPS will review vacant positions and hire as necessary.

Who controls the budget?
The JPS Board of Managers consists of 11 people who are appointed by the Tarrant County Commissioners Court. JPS staff recommends our budget to the Board. The board votes and then sends it to the commissioners for final approval.
